Agriturismo Casa Martina

Country House in Zogno in the hills

Piazza Martina is a small rural village with some medieval-style houses, already mentioned in writings from 1227. It is crossed by an ancient mule trail (the chestnut path) that connected Via Priula with Via Mercatorum. In the green and tranquility of this neighborhood, you will find the farmhouse Casa Martina. There are experiences that leave a memory that involves all five senses: you feel them in your stomach, you see them, you taste a flavor, you smell a scent that even after years you would recognize anywhere. The quality of the welcome, making you feel at home, that typical warm familiarity. A story that intertwines with tradition but looks to the future and innovation. The ancient craft of the farmer, who carefully follows the rhythms of nature every day of the year. Values, flavors, scents, passion, harmony, sharing, and sustainability. Meeting people and getting to know them is a pleasant opportunity for comparison. Especially because there is always something that unites everyone: the pleasure of good food. The available rooms for guests at Casa Martina are spacious, bright, and carefully furnished, paying the utmost attention to the comfort of those staying. All with a private bathroom, LCD TV, free Wi-Fi internet connection, minibar, and hairdryer. Some have a fireplace and even a separate kitchen.

Our breakfast

How many times during the week do we wake up late, gulp down a coffee in a hurry, eat two cookies, and rush to work or school? Perhaps too often. Those who choose to stay at Casa Martina find something different from the daily frenzy that sometimes overwhelms us, and they realize this as soon as they step out of the car and breathe the fresh and tranquil air. The tranquility dictated by nature, the sounds of the animals that inhabit the farmhouse and the surrounding meadows. You are here to relax, we are here to pamper you, and we do so from the very first moment of the day: breakfast. The jams, honey, cheeses, and cakes are all produced by ourselves.

Restaurant

Food represents life, culture, tradition, territory, environment, knowledge, and atmosphere. We take pride in being farmers and offering an authentic experience like agritourism, different from a simple restaurant, hotel, or tourist village. We define ourselves as a family environment because we cook for a maximum of 25 people. We don't try to hide the fact that the cuisine of these valleys has historically been simple and not very diverse. So you won't find sophisticated dishes, but only the enhancement of typicality and the genuineness of products that come from our land. We focus on the essentials... always trying to do them the best we can. We are aware that we are what we eat. Today, we don't need to increase the calories in our meals, but to consume healthier and higher quality foods, respecting seasonality and favoring local products. We don't want to bring in food from far away.

You will be hosted by Giovanni

Giovanni, born in Zogno in June 1971. Since 1990, my family and I have been involved in the management of Casa Martina, our agricultural and agritourism company. A part of our establishment has been dedicated to hospitality in bed & breakfast. We have been living in this small and historic village for generations, cultivating these mountain lands. It is a challenge to compete in terms of quantity, so we have chosen to be multifunctional out of necessity. In the Brembana Valley, agriculture primarily means safeguarding the territory. In my limited free time, I enjoy traveling to satisfy my curiosity. For me, a vacation means the sea, as I can experience the mountains simply by stepping out of my house. I believe that getting to know people and listening to their experiences is a way to enrich ourselves and grow. My motto: The land we own, like the nature in which we live every day, is borrowed from our children, and we must return it to them. Protected, improved, enriched.

Area hills

In addition to the pleasure of relaxation and tranquility, surrounded by the beauty of lush greenery, in the region you can also find a range of interesting attractions. In close proximity is Zogno, with its museums of the Valley, Vicaria, and San Lorenzo, the charming Belotti park, the wonderful caves, and the cycle path of the Brembana Valley. This latter, which stretches for 21 km along the Brembo river, will take you through ancient tunnels and characteristic villages along the route of the old railway. San Pellegrino Terme is famous worldwide for its mineral waters. This beautiful and refined climatic resort, located in the Valley, boasts therapeutic properties known since the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, during the Belle Epoque, numerous Liberty-style buildings were constructed to make the best use of the beneficial properties of the waters. For this reason, the town was nicknamed "the pearl of the Brembana Valley". Cornello dei Tasso is a charming, well-preserved ancient village that was once the center of trade with Valtellina, through the Via Mercatorum, the oldest road in the Valley. Don't miss the Tasso and Postal History Museum, which tells the story of the poets Torquato and Bernardo Tasso. Their family was the first to establish a postal system in Europe. Finally, the Taleggio Valley is famous for its soft-tasting cheese and its natural richness, offering enchanting landscapes to explore.
