Martini Time, panoramic terrace on the castle walls

Apartment in Cagliari in the Castello

Martini Time is a spacious loft (90 square meters) furnished in a modern style, located on the top floor of a 13th-century building without an elevator. It is situated on the walls of the ancient Cagliari Castle, in the highest part of the city. The apartment has been renovated while preserving the architectural features of the era, with exposed wooden beams, and boasts a minimalist decor in Mediterranean colors. The furniture spans various periods, from the 14th to the 21st century. The kitchen is open and very well-equipped, making it ideal for preparing dinners for family or friends. A mezzanine separates the two comfortable bedrooms, both featuring orthopedic mattresses and percale sheets. The terrace offers a fantastic view of the city and is set up for enjoying outdoor aperitifs. Just a few meters away, there is an elevator that leads to the covered parking area, which is dug out beneath the walls, as well as to other neighborhoods in the city. The Poetto beach is only a 15-minute bike ride away. This is a unique place with every convenience, located in the most exclusive part of the city.

Area Castello

The Castello district is the vibrant heart of Cagliari and serves as the city's most significant medieval landmark from historical, artistic, and architectural perspectives. Perched on a hill approximately one hundred meters above sea level, it is also the most scenic of Cagliari's four historic neighborhoods. Founded by the Pisans in the 13th century, Castello was fortified with walls, towers, and bastions following the decision to relocate civil, military, and religious authority there after the destruction of Santa Igia, the ancient capital of the Giudicato of Càlari. This event marked the end of the giudicale reign and the beginning of a new era for Cagliari. Since then, the district has retained its central role during the Pisan, Aragonese-Spanish, and Piedmontese dominations, with the palaces of power and noble residences shaping its identity. Even today, in the Sardinian language, the city is referred to as "Casteddu," a term that directly evokes the Castello district. The prestige of Castello has remained intact over time. It houses significant institutions, including the Prefecture, the City Metropolitan Council Chamber, the headquarters of the University of Cagliari, and the magnificent Cathedral. Additionally, it is home to the citadel of museums, which helps preserve and convey the historical memory of this unique place.
